Sinfonia Christkoenig under Eduard Matscheko excelled with Haydn’s oratorio „The Creation“
Last Sunday the Sinfonia Christkönig orchestra with conductor Eduard Matscheko achieved great success with a brilliant performance of Haydn’s „Creation“ in the fully booked-out Friedenskirche. The audience could admire the well-balanced and powerful church choir, the three soloists: Ilia Vierlinger with her bright soprano voice, Jan Petryka as reliable tenor and bass Klaus Kuttler, who had taken over on very short notice and presented both recitatives and arias in a wonderful way.Haydn’s oratorio is a marvel among the musical compositions dealing with the story of the creation. The momentarily gleaming light and the story of the earth coming into existence were wonderfully depicted by the orchestra, especially by the elegant and accurate wood-wind section, by carefully led dramatics and by the repeated enthusiastic invitation of the conductor, which resulted in a great musical and religious experience. A wave of enthusiasm broke out after the successful performance which was hailed with standing ovations.
