On hot summer days a church hall is not only a spiritually healing place. Those who were looking for a cool place in the Friedenskirche in Linz last Sunday were refreshed by an attractive concert. Sinfonia and Chor Christkoenig under Eduard Matscheko presented a varied programme. Ingo Ingensand’s orchestral piece ”Gioia”as premiere proved to be a musical delicacy. Ingensand conveys joy as emotion full of nuances which ranges from tender delight to ecstatic exultation- ”Gioia” delighted both as well tempered synthesis of intellectual modernity and sensuous sound effects.……
All the happier was the performance of Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy’s Hymn of Praise, op. 52. Matscheko demonstrated the correct understanding of the dramatic character of this Hymn of Praise and led the Sinfonia Orchestra and choir to a brilliant achievement. In the soloist parts Mara Mastalir (soprano), Tabea Mitterbauer (soprano) and Markus Petsch (tenor) delivered a great performance.
