Parish church „Firedenskirche“ in Linz: Flautist Karin Bonelli and harpist Anneleen Lenaerts The concert series of „Sinfonia Christkönig“ under the patronage of the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra started its fifth season with Sunday’s concert. More than 700 visitors filled the church again and they all came looking forward to the concert. Mozart’s Symphony Nr. 26 in E flat major was the beginning. This short, 3-movement-symphony of the young Mozart already shows some traces of the great master Mozart became later. Full tones with sharp and dynamic changes of harmonies are still Baroque-like features of earlier epochs. But there is also profound emotional depth apart from elegant dance-like movements. Then the two philharmonic guests from Vienna played: The 27-year-old flautist Karin Bonelli, born in Upper Austria, and the harpist Anneleen Lenaerts from Belgium interpreted Mozart’s Concert for Flute, Harp in C major, KV 299. There were charming combinations between both brilliant soloists and the orchestra under conductor Eduard Matscheko.
In the second part Beethoven’s Symphony Nr 1 in C Major op. 21 followed, in which Eduard Matscheko spurred on the musicians and led them to spectacular achievement. Most of all the exellent brass and woodwind players must be mentioned here with their soloist interjections right up to the march-like final. The audience thanked with unending/incessant applause.
