Last Sunday the Sinfonia Christkoönig Orchestra under Eduard Matscheko started its anniversary year – under the patronage of Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra – with a Mozart programme. Motifs from works by Mozart, as seen through composer Claudia Federspiele‘s glasses marked the beginning of the concert in the parish church of Christkoönig . Following Tschaikowskys „Mozartiana“ and inspired by Balduin Sulzer‘s „Mozartiana II“ she created number III for solo clarinet and orchestra. It turned out to be an absolutely great work which seemed tailor-made for the solo clarinetist of the Vienna Philharmonic Matthias Schorn and demanded technical virtuosity and tonal finesse from him. Schorn also convinced with Mozart’s Clarinet Concerto. And the Sinfonia Christkönig Orchestra presented itself at its best with a lively played Symphony in C-Major, KV 338 by Mozart. To sum up: a very successful beginning of the 10th season with an impressive premiere performance.
