The Sinfonia Christkoenig Orchestra under Eduard Matscheko is an orchestra that is truly worth hearing: the strings are a homogeneous and dynamically flexible body of sound, the woods excel with wonderful tonal colours and good balance, the brass players are both smooth and radiant, and the percussion is trenchant. It is music-making with heart and abandon – with great naturalness the orchestra follows conductor Matscheko’s example in respect to empathy and creative drive.
At the beginning Beethoven’s „Leonore-Ouverture“ Nr. 1 mirrored a showdown between sighing melancholia and nascent hope.
In her violin concerto „Visions“ Stiliana Popova orchestrated the state of a rugged existence, an escape from reality, which emerged like a wake in order to vanish in nothingness. The world premiere of this impressive work became a great success owing to soloist Maxim Brilinsky, member of the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra. Flaring cascades, tones of black, of splendor and also of charm made the ”Visions” a phenomenal musical experience.
With Schumann’s Symphony Nr. 2, op. 61, Matscheko and his orchestra created a cosmos that united romantic soulfulness, virtuously whirling energy and powerful revolt. It is a great joy to have the Sinfonia Christkoenig Orchestra as part of the soundscape of Linz!
Resumé: An orchestra which lives by the commitment of every single part and a fantastic world premiere!
