The combination of Bruckner’s Mass in f-minor, referred to as the “great“ and Messiaen’s “L‘Ascension“ arranged for organ solo in the parish of Linz-Christkoenig was a great success in every respect.
Choir and Sinfonia Christkoenig as well as the soloists Julia Grüter (soprano), Valentina Kutzarova (alto), Jan Petryka (tenor), and Klaus Kuttler (bass) conveyed a striking interpretation full of solemn pathos and finely worked arcs of suspense, flaming enthusiasm, and high ambition. Credit is due to conductor Eduard Matscheko’s flaming suggestion.
The four organ-movements of Olivier Messiaen’s “L’Ascension“ were perfect as meditative opening and were performed by Elke Eckerstorfer with delicate fingertips. Huge applause.
