The Sinfonia Christkoenig Orchestra convinced its audience
With clever programmes and performances absolutely worth hearing the concert series “Sinfonia Christkoenig“ has gained a huge number of friends in the last seven years. Last Sunday, too, artists and organizers could rejoice about an enthusiastic audience that filled the church to the bursting point.
The programme ranged from the Viennese classic period to early and late romanticism. Wagner’s “Siegfried-Idyll“, a wonderful and transparent, but also difficult composition artistically arranged by Wagner from motifs and themes of his opera “Siegfried“ was presented at the beginning. The homogeneity of the sound was not always completely optimal, but Eduard Matscheko presented the big arcs of suspense and the sophisticated character and chamber musical elements very convincingly.
Joseph Haydn’s festive Concerto for Trumpet and Orchestra in E flat major formed a beautiful contrast. Stefan Haimel, member of the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra, mastered the solo brilliantly, emphasizing the festive and zestful character of the concerto and fascinated the audience with the lyrical and pastoral sounds of the slow movement.
Finally, Eduard Matscheko and the ”Sinfonia Christkoenig” Orchestra impressed the audience with a mature interpretation of Beethovens Symphony number 6. The wonderful presentation of the „andante molto mosso“ must be especially noted. The wood winds, most of all the first flute, deserve a special praise.
Résumé: By presenting a clever and convincingly performed programme the Sinfonia Christkoenig Orchestra has again confirmed its significance in the musical scene of Linz.
